China’s molybdenum powder, ferro molybdenum and sodium molybdate prices are unchanged from the previous trading day on September 16, 2021 as the price and quantity of steel tenders fail to meet market expectation.
From the supply side, firstly, as the atmosphere of Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day gradually increased, environmental protection pressure increased, resulting in some molybdenum mining companies having to suspend production and reduce production; secondly, affected by excessive power loads and increased natural disasters such as typhoons and floods, many cities such as Henan had to take measures such as power rationing and raising electricity prices, which in turn affected the normal production and operation of local molybdenum enterprises.
In terms of news: from January to August 2021, China's crude steel output was 733.02 million tons, an increase of 5.3% year-on-year; pig iron output was 605.38 million tons, an increase of 0.6% year-on-year; steel production was 91.33 million tons, an increase of 7.3% year-on-year. Among them, in August, my country's crude steel output was 83.24 million tons, down 13.2% year-on-year; pig iron output was 71.53 million tons, down 11.1% year-on-year; steel output was 108.8 million tons, down 10.1% year-on-year.
