China’s domestic rare earth market is still tepid in the first trading day on June 15, 2021 after the holiday of Dragoon Boat Festival under continue weakness in the demand side.
However, due to the recent high temperature and rainy weather, the release of production capacity of some rare earth smelting companies has slowed down. Coupled with the support of production costs, there is not much room for product bargaining.
According to the key monitoring of industrial product prices by Baotou Industry and Information Technology Bureau in May 2021, the prices of 4 of the 8 rare earth products have dropped month-on-month. The average price of rare earth carbonate was 29,500 yuan/ton, a decrease of 1,500 yuan/ton from the previous month, a decrease of 4.8%; a year-on-year increase of 8,500 yuan/ton, an increase of 40.5%; the average price of cerium oxide was 9,450 yuan/ton, the same month-on-month, a year-on-year decrease of 1,550 yuan/ton, a decrease of 14.1%; the average price of neodymium oxide was 510,000 yuan/ton, a month-on-month decrease of 65,000 yuan/ton, a decrease of 11.3%, an increase of 230,000 yuan/ton year-on-year, an increase of 82.3%.
The average price of neodymium metal was 633,000 yuan/ton, a month-on-month decrease of 99,000 yuan/ton, a decrease of 13.5%, and a year-on-year increase of 278,000 yuan/ton, an increase of 78.6%; the average price of neodymium praseodymium metal was 618,000 yuan/ton, a month-on-month decrease of 75,000 yuan/ton, a decrease of 10.8%, a year-on-year increase of 281,000 yuan/ton, an increase of 83.2%.
